The national carrier, Kenya Airways (KQ), has announced its new product, the Pay Lounge Day Pass, where business class passengers and top-tier frequent fliers will have an opportunity to invite and enjoy the company of friends, family or colleagues at a fee.
The fee will vary depending on the point of access at the lounges. For instance, if you buy a pay lounge day pass at the Simba Lounge in Terminal 1A, it will cost you USD 40.00 or its Kenya Shillings equivalent while at the Simba Lounge, at Terminal 1C, it will sell at USD 30.00 and USD 20.00 in Terminal 1D at the Msafiri Lounge.
Acceptable forms of payment will include credit or debit cards (VISA/Master cards/AMEX), M-Pesa via the pay bill number 777777 (Invoice number 993156), Airtel Payments – KQPAY (Invoice number 993161) and Cash in either US dollars or Kenya Shillings.
If a passenger is booked and travelling in business class, they will be entitled to 4 paying guests. If the passenger is travelling in economy and holds a Platinum or Gold frequent flyer card or is in the same tier as mentioned in one of the SkyTeam partners, then they will be entitled to 1 complimentary and 2 paying guests.
A passenger who is a Silver elite card holder, on the other hand, will pay for access and will be entitled to invite 1 paying guest.
The pay lounge day pass will be valid for 8 hours starting 5:00 AM to 12:00 midnight and will be granted subject to availability with the lounge reserving the right of admission. It is important for guests to note that once they buy the pass and decide not to use it, their money will not be refunded.
Passengers purchasing the pass will also not be able to transfer the privilege to another guest. Infants aged less than 2 years will however have free access to the lounge.
Invited guests should be flying with a Skyteam Carrier or, KQ partner airlines or KQ Customer Airlines handled by KQ. A VVIP Lounge located at the Simba Lounge has also been set up for passengers wishing to have extra privacy for themselves and their guests.
The rates at this lounge will be USD 50.00 per hour per guest on top of the usual lounge rate of USD 40.00. The VVIP lounge can accommodate a maximum of 5 people. Steward services will be availed to the guest on request.
