Imagine waking up to the calls of nature, the distant echo of lion roars mingling with birdsong, as the African dawn breaks over the vast Maasai Mara. Your journey into Kenya’s premier wildlife sanctuary, the Mara-Loita Wilderness Camping Safari, is not just another trip; it’s an immersive adventure that will awaken your senses, ignite your curiosity, and leave you with stories to last a lifetime.
As one of the world’s last remaining wildlife frontiers, the Maasai Mara offers a spectacle unmatched anywhere else. Here, you’ll witness nature’s raw beauty, where thousands of wildebeests thunder across the plains during the annual Great Migration—a powerful display of life and survival that captivates even the most seasoned traveller. Known for its concentration of wildlife, the Mara is a place where you’re as likely to spot a majestic lioness on the hunt as you are to see herds of gazelles, elephants, and zebras grazing the golden savannas. This UNESCO World Heritage site offers more than a glimpse into the wild—it’s a front-row seat to the delicate, awe-inspiring balance of nature.
Our journey is thoughtfully designed to bring you closer to the heart of Kenya’s landscapes and people. Your adventure begins with the establishment of a secluded tented camp along the Mara River, nestled in a private, tree-lined area that offers peace and privacy amidst the vibrant wilderness. Here, your surroundings become a natural theatre, where the sights, sounds, and scents of Africa envelop you. As you sit by the campfire under a blanket of stars, guided by local Maasai warriors, you’ll feel the humbling spirit of this land, an ancient energy passed down through generations.
The Mara-Loita Wilderness Camping Safari is more than just a wildlife experience. You’ll venture into the heart of the Loita Hills and the Nguruman Forest, areas rarely visited by the typical tourist. Accompanied by knowledgeable Maasai guides, you’ll explore pristine cloud forests and untouched acacia woodlands, discovering hidden springs and traversing landscapes where few footprints have tread. Our guided walks will introduce you to Indigenous flora and fauna, and you’ll gain unique insights from Maasai tribesmen who’ve lived in harmony with this land for centuries. Here, each step on the path tells a story, revealing secrets of survival, resilience, and respect for the wilderness.
Adding to the depth of your journey, you’ll connect with the Maasai community. A people known for their rich culture and vibrant traditions, the Maasai welcome you to experience their way of life, from traditional dances to insights into their sustainable cattle-herding practices. This close cultural exchange will offer you a new perspective, one that stays with you long after your safari ends.
Our adventure wraps up with a full-day game drive southeast, where you’ll savour your last moments in this wild paradise. As we journey towards a beautiful lodge for your final night, you’ll have the chance to spot the Big Five and capture the Mara’s sweeping landscapes, vibrant with wildlife and alive with possibility.

We break camp early and set off on our first day of hiking. This is a donkey supported hike, the donkey being the traditional means of transporting goods among the Maasai. The bulk of our camping equipment will be carried by donkeys. You will only be required to carry a day pack. The first day will take us through Maasai villages to the edge of the forest where we will have our first camp.
Our hike will take us north and deeper into the rolling, wooded hills of the Loita Naimina forest or the forest of the lost child as it is known in the local folklore. This is an area of religious significance for the Maasai. As we get to the top of the hills we will have a spectacular view of the Great Rift Valley and Lake Magadi in the distance.
We turn west and head towards the little market of Entasekera on the forest's western edge. We will camp at the foot of the beautiful Emburumbutia hills.
Our hike ends at the small market town of Entasekera. We will link up with our support vehicle and camp in a small wooded area just outside town.
