The Nairobi Fashion Market event held at the Ngong Racecourse between 6th-7th was indeed a ‘great day out’ as the adverts had promised. It was a shopping extravaganza where over 50 stalls showcased a versatile range of fashion, accessories, camping, and hair and beauty products. Some amazing leather stuff from Rift Valley leather was on offer at incredible prices.

Upcoming designers Red Mus, Kimila Afrika, Rift Valley Leather, Johari and Maggies Collections also showcased their collections. Other big names like Oriflame and Kiko Romeo also came along to display their wares.

The event seeks to create an avenue for fashion retailers and upcoming local fashion designers and businesses, to interact with their target clients. There was a unique opportunity to donate old stuff to the Love Shack (Love for Sick, Homeless and Abandoned Children in Kenya) charity that sends destitute and orphaned Kenyan children to school and hospital through child sponsorship and small-scale fundraising.

There was entertainment galore from the multi-award winner, Wahu and the brother duo of MadTraxx (George Muigai) and DJ Stylez.

For the lovers of fashion, the catwalk was kept busy by the graceful models showcasing some funky outfits from local designers throughout the day. The young ones were not left out of the fun day – they had a special play area set aside just for them.
